檢定時在方箱被檢面的兩端各放置1mm的量塊，把刀口形直尺放在量塊工作面上，然后在其各被檢點(diǎn)處用量塊試塞，當(dāng)量塊組剛剛?cè)霑r的尺寸與兩端量塊尺寸之差為該被檢點(diǎn)對兩端之間的偏差。這一檢定還應(yīng)在方箱工作面的縱向、橫向和對角線方向的幾個截面上進(jìn)行。

主要用于零部件的平行度、垂直度等的檢驗(yàn)和劃線。方箱是用鑄鐵或鋼材制成的具體6個工作面的空腔正方體，其中一個工作面上有V型槽。鑄鐵方箱要求：方箱各工作面不能有銹跡、劃痕、裂紋、凹陷以及影響計量性能的其他缺陷。非工作面應(yīng)清砂涂漆，棱邊倒角。在測得的各個位置的直線中誤差方向一致時取其最大值，當(dāng)誤差方向不一致時取其最大正差與最大負(fù)差絕對值之和，為該受檢面平面的平面度。在方箱內(nèi)壁應(yīng)有標(biāo)牌，并標(biāo)有規(guī)格尺寸，級別出廠編號、制造廠名稱。作為工業(yè)生產(chǎn)車間里鉗工做立體劃線的工具；也可以檢測機(jī)械零件的平行度和垂直度；也可做工作臺使用。上面帶有支架，用于檢驗(yàn)或劃精密工件的任意角度線。適用于測量和刻標(biāo)記的固定器。
